Chiropractic is a professional medical practice which promotes general health holistically through spine and body alignment adjustment. A Doctor of Chiropractic (Chiropractor) is a professional doctor who possesses extensive knowledge about your nerves, muscles and bones. A Doctor of Chiropractic practices a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment.

The root cause of discomforts such as back pains, stiffness, or headaches are often overlooked. While pain killers temporary relieve the symptoms, Doctors of Chiropractic find the cause of the problem and cure you permanently.

Chiropractic Adjustment

Chiropractic adjustment corrects spine misalignment (also known as subluxation).

Subluxation is a condition which our spine become misaligned from everyday activities, such as poor postures and stress. It often leads to irritations such as pain, stiffness and numbness in our body as a result of pinched nerves and obstructed blood circulation.

During the treatment, the doctor of chiropractic will identify the affected joints and apply very specific force to the targeted joints to relieve the tension and restore the vertebra to healthy position. The treatment is painless although a series of “pop” sound may be heard during the treatment.

Patients may experience instant relief in right after the adjustment.

Dry Needling (Western Acupuncture)

Myofascial trigger point dry needling is the most effective treatment to restore normal function to abnormally behaving muscles.

These muscles become painful with nodules/knots and tight bands of muscle that could send pain signal locally or to other area. The muscles, which contain these abnormal areas are “locked” and therefore cannot release normally, which causes restriction of movement and chronic pain.

This treatment allows the muscle knot to release to its normal length and improve blood circulation.

Acupuncture is a field in Traditional Chinese Medicine in which tiny needles are used to manipulate the body function to achieve healing properties. When applied correctly, the healing effect can be felt almost immediately.

The ancient Chinese believe that “Qi”, the invisible force of life, moves according to the meridians to ensure all our organs function well. According to the Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic(黄帝内经), an ancient Chinese manuscript, the obstruction of the “Qi” in our meridian can cause illnesses and pain.

During our treatment, if acupuncture is necessary, our doctors will identify the relevant acupuncture points and apply “supplement” (补), and “release” (泻) method to the targeted organ function to rebalance the patient’s body function. When applied together with chiropractic, acupuncture can speed up musculoskeletal system recovery, and treat more conditions beyond the musculoskeletal misalignment.

Tit Tar (Traditional Bone Setting)

Tit Tar is a Cantonese term that, when translated literally, means ‘fall-hit’. Tit Tar is a traditional manual bone-setting technique used to correct body misalignment. This technique is highly utilized by practitioners to restore and rectify trauma due to everyday physical exertions, stresses, and sports-related injuries.

Tit tar believes that body pain is caused by misalignment. Other than bones and joints, the tendon misalignment is the most frequently overlooked issues.

A major aspect of tit tar therapy is acupressure and tendon alignment. Tendon re-alignment, known as “Qiao Kin” in Hokkien, is to correct the alignment of the tendons.

Another aspect of tit tar therapy is acupressure. Acupressure is an ancient science that deals with the human body and the flow of natural energy (‘Qi’) within. Using hands and fingers to manipulate the flow of “Qi” in and around an injured joint, acupressure can release muscular tension, promote the circulation of blood and enables the body to relax deeply. This speeds up recovery and strengthens the body’s resistance to diseases.

Complementing with Chiropractic, Tit Tar is a state of art in healing the body. At Zen Specialist, we have managed to reduce the healing time by combining Tit Tar into conventional chiropractic practices.

Advance Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to painful spots and myoskeletal tissues. The energy promotes regenerating and reparative processes of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues.

In a conventional Chiropractic setting, the chiropractic doctor will adjust the misaligned spine to the original position. However, ligaments, tendons, and muscles around the patient’s spine had accustomed to the misalignment, especially those who have overlooked the symptoms for prolonged period. Therefore, misalignment tends to recur and many adjustments over long period of time are required for the tissues to recover to their perfect condition.

In Zen Specialist, we combine advance shockwave therapy imported from Europe with chiropractic adjustments to speed up the adaptation of myoskeletal tissues to the proper alignment.

With that, you will spend less time in pain, and recover faster.

High Intensity Laser Therapy

High Intensity Laser (HIL) is the latest innovation based on the well-known principle of low level laser therapy (LLLT). The new technology is now 24 times more powerful than LLLT.

High Intensity Laser Therapy improves the micro-circulation in the treated area, allows better exchange of nutrients and oxygen needed for tissue regeneration, and assist in metabolic waste removal. It increases the activity of many enzymes in the cells, improves glucose utilization and stimulates DNA synthesis. The wavelength and frequency of the HIL also have analgesic effect on pain sensor’s free nerve ending. In essence, the HIL shortens healing time significantly at the same time relieves pain in near term.

Our Doctors at Zen Specialist use HIL to complement with Chiropractic, Tit-Tar and Acupuncture treatment whenever necessary. This ensures faster recovery compared to conventional standalone treatments.
